Support Renewable Energy

CET has been working for 30 years to increase consumer access to renewable energy.

Supporting renewable energy increases our energy independence and reduces harmful emissions that impact public health and contribute to climate change. Join by clicking on the logos. (Clicking will open a new window to our partner Mass Energy's secure web site.)

New England GreenStart is a Green-Up option on your National Grid electricity bill that lets residents and small businesses support renewable energy sources in New England. New England GreenStart works by matching 100% or 50% of your electricity usage with renewable energy certificates from local renewable energy sources - low-impact hydro, landfill methane, solar and wind. With New England GreenStart, you can match your 100% or 50% of your electricity usage with local renewable energy sources. The GreenStart premium on your National Grid bill averages from $3 to $12 monthly, depending on your use and the level you choose. Your premium is 100% tax-deductible on your federal taxes if you itemize.

The New England Wind Fund helps create new zero-emission wind energy in New England. All WMECO customers and larger National Grid businesses can support the New England Wind Fund, as it is not tied to any utility. You can choose to make an ongoing monthly contribution appropriate to your electricity use, or make a one-time donation. Your premium is 100% tax-deductible on your federal taxes if you itemize.

CET partners with Mass Energy to offer these two green energy options - New England GreenStart and the New England Wind Fund - from the Berkshires to Boston. Mass Energy has pursued a mission to make energy more affordable and environmentally sustainable for the consumers of Massachusetts since 1982.
