CET's Board of Directors

CET's Board of Directors is responsible for guiding the organization's overall direction, strategic planning, approving substantive policy and planning initiatives and assisting with other tasks as needed.

Officers

Paul Gavrity, President, has been a member of CET's Board for six years.He is currently Associate Executive Director of Berkshire County ARC. Mr. Gavrity is also active in the Chamber of Commerce, where he serves on the Government Relations Committee. He is married and has three children.

Vicky Singer, Treasurer, served as the Executive Director of Berkshire Enterprises, which she helped found twenty five years ago. Berkshire Enterprises is an entrepreneurial consulting and training program based in Pittsfield. Her previous experience was as an owner of a retail business in Lenox, MA. Ms. Singer has lived in Pittsfield since 1978. She received her Ed.D. in 1997 from UMASS with a dissertation on entrepreneurial training.

Alan Silverstein, Clerk, is co-director of CET.

Ruth Blodgett is currently Senior Vice President for System Planning and Program Development at Berkshire Medical Center. She also served as its Chief Operating Officer from 1995 - 2001. Her community involvement includes serving on the Board of Berkshire Community College, Berkshire Community Music School and the Massachusetts Society of Prevention to Cruelty to Children. She has taught Project Business at Reid Middle School. Ms. Blodgett received her MBA from the University of Chicago. She is married and has three children.

Kit Dobelle is a community member active in the local community. She currently serves on the boards of the Colonial Theatre, Berkshire Health Systems, and the Massachusetts Board of the Conservation Law Foundation. She is a member of the Steering Committee for Berkshire Hospice House. She is the wife of former Pittsfield Mayor Evan Dobelle, and lives in Pittsfield.

Tom Jorling is currently a visiting distinguished professor of environmental studies at the Center for Environmental Studies at Williams College. Mr. Jorling previously served as the director of Environmental Studies at Williams College; as minority counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee for Public Works; and he has worked as assistant administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. He also previously headed New York State’s Department of Environmental Conservation and spent a decade as vice-president for environmental affairs at International Paper.

Matthew Masiero is the owner and president of Guido's Fresh Marketplace. Founded in 1979, Guido's provides a full range of earth friendly products, organic produce and natural foods. Guido’s serves customers from its Pittsfield and Great Barrington stores. Mr. Masiero lives with his family in Richmond.

William Moomaw is Professor of International Environmental Policy at the Fletcher School, Tufts University. He conducts research on the technology and economics of energy and environmental policies and works internationally and domestically with groups that develop solutions to environmental problems. Prior to coming to Tufts, he taught chemistry and environmental studies at Williams for 26 years. He served on the Williamstown Planning Board and the Berkshire Regional Planning Commission. He and his wife Margot enjoy their new LEED-certified Williamstown home, which uses no fossil fuels and is a net-zero energy residence.

Bamby Neale is the Principal of Conte Community School. She was recognized as the Massachusetts Principal of the Year in 2002. She is Chair of the Brown University Regional Principals' Leadership Network and member of its Board of Governors. She is also a member of the Harvard Principal Center Advisory Board. She is a faculty member of Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Leadership Academy and Mentor Coordinator. She received her Ed.D. in Educational Administration. Ms. Neale is married and has two grown daughters.

Greg Ward is President of Ward's Nursery Inc. in Great Barrington, which he co-owns with his brother Mike. He has a degree in biology from the University of New Hampshire and is a Massachusetts Certified Horticulturalist. Mr. Ward lives in Gt. Barrington with his wife Christine and daughters Hannah and Eva. He also serves on the board of the Berkshire Botanical Garden.
