Plug Into Green Energy

A special announcement to you, our EcoBytes readers— friends and colleagues.

What’s green, affordable and new?  CET’s renewable energy offering - GreenerWatts New England.  If you are a Massachusetts Electric Company customer, all you have to do is look in your September or early October bill for a description of the company’s “GreenUp” program.  GreenerWatts New England is at the top of the list of four renewable energy offerings.  Don’t recycle the insert…it’s one way to enroll in GreenerWatts.  You can also sign up at: www.GreenerWattsNewEngland.com. If you have a different utility, don’t despair.  We will have a parallel product for you soon.  Let us know if you’re interested.

Friends and colleagues who have followed CET’s work for 27 years know how long we have worked to make renewable energy accessible and affordable.  GreenerWatts New England is a significant step toward a renewable energy future.  For a few pennies a day, households, small businesses and non-profit customers of Massachusetts Electric Company can choose to invest in renewable energy.  One way to reduce the additional cost of supporting renewable energy is to take advantage of  CET’s energy efficiency services and invest the savings from installing efficiency measures in clean, green, renewable electricity.

How does it work?  GreenerWatts New England matches 100% of your electric consumption with 100% renewable resources.  The premium you pay - 1.9 cents ($.019) per kilowatt hour - supports solar, wind, low-impact hydropower and landfill gas facilities in New England.  By signing up for GreenerWatts New England, you will join others across the Commonwealth in building the demand for electricity from clean and healthy renewable energy supplies.  As more and more homes and businesses enroll, we will hasten the development of new, responsibly sited, local supplies of wind, hydropower and solar electricity.  This will create long-term economic, environmental and health benefits to western Massachusetts and beyond…truly a way for our personal action to have regional and global impact.

We thank those who have already signed up for GreenerWatts New England and hope that if you are eligible, you will join them.  Please consider forwarding this message to friends and colleagues who may be able to participate.  Please visit our website: www.GreenerWattsNewEngland.com to learn more and to sign-up.  Or call CET (1-800-238-1221) or CSG (800-689-7957) for more information.  GreenerWatts New England is a partnership of CET and Conservation Services Group, a fellow Massachusetts non-profit organization with which we have collaborated many times.
