Home Energy Rater / Outreach Specialist
CET provides energy analysis, diagnostic testing, and ENERGY STAR home
certifications for builders and remodelers. This position is focused
on both increasing awareness about CET’s services and delivering
those services. This position involves outreach to builders through
trade meetings, one-on-one meetings, dropping in at construction sites,
checking permit offices, and other techniques, as well as performing
the technical services of energy analysis, diagnostic testing, and
inspecting for program guidelines.
Responsibilities:
- Recruiting builders into the ENERGY STAR homes program
- Recruiting builders to use CET’s diagnostic testing services for energy code compliance
- Recruiting builders for other relevant programs and services
- Providing guidance to builders about compliance with the energy code
- Measuring floor plans to determine areas of components
- Evaluating home efficiency in REM/Rate software
- Communicating program standards and recommendations to builders
- Inspecting homes for insulation and other environmental features
- Running blower door and duct leakage tests
- Installing compact fluorescent light bulbs
- Maintain HERS rater certification
Qualifications:
- Home Energy Rating System (HERS) rater certification preferred. (Ability to gain and maintain HERS rater certification if not currently certified.)
- Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification preferred. (Ability to gain and maintain BPI certification if not currently certified.)
- Traveling (approx. 66% of the time) throughout western Massachusetts required
- Home renovation or construction experience desired
- Ability to learn energy code requirements and communicate them to builders
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet unassisted
- Ability to work outdoors, in basements, crawl spaces and attics. These locations often have extreme temperatures and poor air quality.
- Use of a reliable vehicle with adequate space for the transport of equipment
- Excellent computer skills and communication skills - both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong math and geometry skills
- Experience with sales, education and/or community outreach
- Passion for the environment and community involvement
This position will be a full-time, year-round salaried position with benefits.
CET offers competitive pay rates and a comprehensive health plan which pays
approximately 60% of the individual’s health insurance costs. New employees
accrue 10 days of paid vacation leave per year, 9 sick days and CET offers
12 paid holidays. We have one available opening for this position in our Florence office.
