Energy Specialist - Berkshire County
The Center for EcoTechnology administers aspects of the MassSAVE program and is looking for qualified candidates to perform technical energy assessments and sell energy improvement measures to customers, as well as install light bulbs and perform combustion safety tests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Selling air sealing and related services to customers
- Conducting residential energy assessments
- Conducting combustion safety tests
- Installing energy saving measures, such as light bulbs and weather-stripping, in customer’s homes
- Traveling to customer homes and arriving on time for 3 or more appointments per day and calling when schedule cannot be adhered to
- Following up with customers after the audit to encourage them to sign their air sealing contract and further CET visits, if appropriate
- Meeting or exceeding CET sales expectations
- Meeting or exceeding CET expectations for identifying roadblocks and scheduling diagnostic audits
- Meeting or exceeding CET expectations for installing energy savings measures (particularly light bulbs) in homes
- Providing excellent customer service
- Providing all appropriate paperwork to customers
- Keeping vehicle properly stocked with supplies and tracking use of supplies accurately
- Following CET policies and protocols, including accurate and timely completion of timesheets and travel sheets
- Thorough, accurate, and timely completion of all paperwork and data entry
- Nightly upload of data for audits completed that day
- Properly documenting unusual situations for future staff members or contractors who will visit the home
- Performing inspections for loans and rebates
Qualifications:
- 1 year experience working in field related to energy efficiency or home renovation or construction experience
- Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification preferred. Must gain BPI certification within first six months of employement if not currently certified.
- Strong math / geometry / communication / computer / sales skills
- Use of a reliable vehicle with adequate space for the transport of equipment
- Must possess valid Massachusetts driver’s license and ability to pass background, drug test and driving record check
- Ability to learn and perform a variety of diagnostic tests
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet unassisted
- Ability to work outdoors, in basements, crawl spaces and attics. These locations often have extreme temperatures and poor air quality.

This position will be a full-time, year-round salaried position with benefits. The Center for EcoTechnology offers competitive pay rates, a comprehensive health plan which pays approximately 60% of the individual’s health insurance costs. Dental, short and long-term disability insurances are also available. New employees accrue 10 days of paid vacation leave per year, 9 sick days and 12 paid holidays. This position will be based at our office in Pittsfield MA, with frequent travel throughout southern Berkshire County.

Sales Associate - part-time position at EcoBuilding Bargains in Springfield
EcoBuilding Bargains, an enterprise of the Center for EcoTechnology sells donated home improvement materials. We are looking for sales-focused, reliable individuals to assist us in our mission.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assist EcoBuilding Bargains in achieving its mission to provide home improvement materials at a discounted rate
- Provide excellent customer service to all visitors at EcoBuilding Bargains
- Handle cash, checks, charges and gift card sales with accuracy and efficiency
- Assist in pricing, stocking and displaying inventory as needed
- Assist in loading and unloading material from trucks and/or customer’s vehicles
- Maintain knowledge of materials in store for maximum benefit to customers and highlight donation program as appropriate
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment for staff members and the public
- Passion for the environment and community involvement
Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED – college degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year retail experience
- Minimum 1 year or equivalent knowledge of sales and/or value and use of home improvement materials desired
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Physically able to lift heavy objects (50 pounds) on a regular and repeated basis; move freely (including twisting, bending, kneeling, squatting, etc.) to perform job duties; and operate pallet jack, dolly, forklift and other moving equipment
- Truck driving experience preferred
- Hard working, reliable and excellent communication skills required

- Availability between Tuesday and Saturday each week

Telephone Outreach - part-time position at EcoBuilding Bargains in Springfield
EcoBuilding Bargains, an enterprise of the Center for EcoTechnology sells donated home improvement materials. We are looking for an experienced,reliable and customer service-oriented individual to assist us in calling potential contacts for donations of overstock or used materials.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Call prospective material donors in designated market areas to explain the options of donating.
- Follow established script when calling prospects and work to make improvements as needed.
- Have knowledge of tax benefits of material donations to a non-profit organization
- When call results in donation, arrange truck pick-up of materials via established protocol
- Accurately enter information such as name, address, material, dates of solicitation into database as a result of telephone call
- Assist EcoBuilding Bargains in achieving its mission to provide home improvement materials at a discounted rate via material donations.
- Provide excellent customer service to all visitors/callers to EcoBuilding Bargains
Qualifications:
- High School diploma/GED – college degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year retail experience or telemarketing experience
- Minimum 1 year or equivalent knowledge of sales and/or value and use of home improvement materials desired
- Computer/database knowledge required
- Hard working, reliable and excellent communication skills required
- Strong commitment to non-profit community mission of EcoBuilding Bargains
- Availability between Tuesday and Friday each week
