The Berkshire Renewable Energy
Collaborative is a group of educators, environmental and business leaders
and citizens whose mission is "to increase energy efficiency and the responsible
use of renewable energy in the Berkshire region. Coordinated by the Center
for Ecological Technology (CET), with support from the Massachusetts Renewable
Energy Trust, Collaborative members are taking a lead role in educating
area residents about renewable energy technology through a variety of
activities described briefly below.
Goals of the Berkshire Renewable Energy Collaborative:
- Increase Energy Efficiency in the Berkshire Region
- Increase the Responsible Use of Renewable Energy in the Berkshire Region
How We Achieve our Goals:
- Act as a Clearinghouse for Objective Information about Renewable Energy
- Website
- Phone and email assistance
- Provide leadership training for members
- Establish criteria for responsibly sited renewable energy facilities, e.g. wind and low-impact hydro
- Set regional goals for increasing renewable energy
- Work with individual communities
- Work regionally
- Work with organizations and agencies in other parts of Massachusetts and New England
- Conduct educational programs
- Workshops about renewable technologies
- Renewable energy and green building tours
- Help facilitate visible projects
- Provide informational workshops
- Provide staff resources
