Have you been considering buying an electric vehicle (EV)? Well now is the right time! Mass Energy recently launched Drive Green, a buying program that allows anyone to purchase or lease an EV or plug-in hybrid (PHEV) at participating dealers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island at discounted rates. Drive Green is modeled after similar successful programs in Colorado and Utah and is an extension of buyers’ groups for energy consumers that Mass Energy has operated since 1982.

Why should you choose an EV?

  1. Money: It is cheaper to drive one mile in an EV than one mile powered by gasoline. You can calculate you fuel savings and compare vehicles here.

Dealers participating in this program are offering discounts as high as $9,000 off of the MSRP. Additionally, you can receive a federal tax credit of up to $7500 as well as state rebates. MA and RI residents can receive a rebate of up to $2500! Rebates are also available for more efficient at home charging devices in MA and for Eversource customers.

  1. Climate Change: Widespread adoption of EVs is necessary to reduce our CO2 emissions to 40% below 1990 levels by 2030. The success of the Drive Green program will not only educate consumers, but also inspire policy makers and carmakers to spend time and energy developing and propagating EVs.

Did you know that the average conventional gasoline-powered vehicle emits 381 grams of CO2 per mile? PHEVs on the other hand only emit an average 192 grams of CO2 per mile and battery EVs emit an average of only 122 grams per mile. Also, by pairing your electric vehicle with Mass Energy’s New England Wind program, which allows to purchase local renewable energy, your EV can emit 0 grams of CO2 per mile!

  1. Vehicle Quality: The models chosen for this program are affordable and available TODAY. All models have an excellent range so you do not have to worry about running out of power. The cars are being offered by carefully selected dealers in MA and RI that will offer competitive prices cheaper than the average price of a new car in the US.

What car models are available? ev3
