As an architect\, systems thinker\, and biomimicry-certified professional\, Miflin’s goal is to support designers\, communities\, and policymakers by making zero-waste strategies accessible and actionable in order to improve buildings\, neighborhoods\, and cities. Based in NYC\, she is the Executive Director of the Center for Zero Waste Design\, a non-profit that develops circular strategies for cities\, as well as Principal at ThinkWoven\, a zero-waste design consultancy.  \n\n\n\nCeleste McMickleDirector of Client Solutions for TRUE Zero Waste Celeste McMickle is the Director of Client Solutions for TRUE Zero Waste certification with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). TRUE certification aims to support facilities and businesses in achieving their zero-waste goals by providing a clear path to certification using a points-based rating system and educational tools such as the TRUE Advisor program. Celeste is trained as an architect and has a background as a sustainability consultant\, LEED Green rater\, and waste expert. She is the vice-chair of the Brooklyn Solid Waste Advisory Board and is a certified Master Composter. TRUE is a third-party zero-waste certification for facilities\, events\, and construction. All in-person registrants will automatically register for the webinar. If you are unable to attend\, we will record the session so that attendees can watch before the in-person field portion.   \n\n\n\nThe hands-on field session will take place at Fehr Avenue Farm\, in collaboration with the Schenectady Community Compost Project.   \n\n\n\nThis workshop is geared toward the following participants from New York State:  \n\n\n\n\nOperators of agricultural\, municipal\, and private composting operations that accept food scraps. \n\n\n\n\n\nOperators of small-scale/community composting sites that accept food scraps\, such as community gardens\, local parks\, etc. \n\n\n\n\n\nOther interested parties considering starting a commercial or community scale composting operation to compost food scraps. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister now\n\n\n\n\nPriority registration will be given to New York-based composters. Out-of-state registrants will be placed on a waitlist and notified if spots become available.  \n\n\n\nThis workshop is part of a series of two workshops that CET is hosting in Spring 2026 under our Rethink Food Waste NY program. With food scraps drop-off sites across the county\, Fehr Avenue Farm serves as a special site for the Schenectady Community Compost Project. On-site\, there is a solar powered Aerated Static Pile (ASP) system that processes a mix of food scraps from a local school\, the community drop-off sites\, and garden clean out from the farm\, into a nutrient-rich compost used by Schenectady Urban Farms and local schools to keep the community fed.   \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCOMPOST TeChNICAL SERVICES Compost Technical Services is a specialized consulting and education firm focused on helping farms\, communities\, and organizations build resilient\, sustainable compost systems.
