Spring 2018 Reuse Rockstar Competition Winners
By Shelby Kuenzli, Digital Marketing EcoFellow
The Spring 2018 Reuse Rockstar Competition has come to a close. Thank you to all who submitted entries and voted on the winner! This competition highlights some of the ingenious projects our customers make with materials from EcoBuilding Bargains. There were many creative entries, totaling 17 unique projects, all of which you can see here. The community voted for the project they liked best at our EcoBuilding Bargains Bash last Saturday. Thank you to everyone who participated! All the projects were amazing and we can’t wait to see what you come up with for our fall competition! Here are the top projects for Spring 2018:
Colleen Adams – Bathroom Remodel
Colleen and her husband wanted to turn an unfinished space in their cottage into a second bathroom. They used materials from various reuse stores, including EcoBuilding Bargains! The two painted two raised panel doors, used for storage cubbies, and the biscuit-colored sink, nickel stand, and matching toilet helped complete the look!
Lisa Marie – Wine Bottle Holder
Lisa Marie made this lovely wine bottle and glass holder out of wood and bolts from EcoBuilding Bargains! This project is great for any space and is a chic way to hold your wine and glasses.
Jakob Palches – Tiny Home
Jakob Palches and his partner built a tiny home with some materials from EcoBuilding Bargains! They started building in 2015 and just recently got the occupancy permit in January 2018. They used 11 windows, a front door, a sliding door, a stove vent hood, cabinets, and even hardware from us to help tie it all together! Materials from EcoBuilding Bargains can be used in a number of different ways and we love seeing them come together to make a home. See more pictures of their tiny home and the process of building it on Instagram!
Second Place- $50 Gift Card Winner
Tim Mutti – Double Vanity
Tim Mutti made an entire, one-of-a-kind, double bathroom vanity from materials at EcoBuilding Bargains! The vanity is made from pine board sheathing and the legs are oak 4x4s. The top is made from pine and oak in various widths. Tim chose to leave the nail holes from its previous life to add some character! The cabinets on the bottom are also from EcoBuilding Bargains. The counter top is a lovely butcher block top made of wood glued together. Why buy it when you can build it for a fraction of the cost and make it look exactly how you want?
First Place- $100 Gift Card Winner
Matthew Johnson – Coffee Table
Matthew Johnson bought white oak framing lumber from us to create this modern coffee table! He used a zero VOC whey-base finish and he welded the steel base. Not only are the materials reused, but Matthew also took into consideration having sustainable finishing touches. Creating reuse projects from inexpensive materials from EcoBuilding Bargains is an easy and affordable way to change your homes aesthetic to your liking. It’s great seeing how our customers turn lumber into amazing pieces for their home!
