B. Alpha Construction earns CET’s 2026 Alan Silverstein and Laura Dubester
Award for Community Environmental Leadership
Chicopee, MA – B. Alpha Construction has received the 2026 Alan Silverstein and Laura Dubester Award for Community Environmental Leadership from CET.
B. Alpha Construction was given this award at CET’s 50th Anniversary Kick-off Event. CET President & CEO Ashley Muspratt and CET Energy Portfolio Strategist Karina Gaft-Azcue presented the award to 2 of the 3 co-founders of B. Alpha Construction, Mark Tajima and Yamil Brito, who were in attendance.
Alan Silverstein and Laura Dubester were pioneers of the environmental movement. As Co-Directors of CET for over 35 years, beginning in the 1980s, they spearheaded countless successful community-based environmental initiatives and inspired others to do the same. This award honors Laura and Alan’s achievements and recognizes individuals or organizations who demonstrate visionary and collaborative environmental leadership in their communities.
This year’s recipient is B. Alpha Construction, a minority owned and operated commercial insulation business in Chicopee, MA, that was founded in 2021 to provide better insulation and energy efficiency services to businesses throughout Western Mass. (See WEBSITE HERE)
CET came to know B. Alpha Construction through their collaboration in the Mass Save commercial energy program.
“This is so great, this is our first award for our business and we do appreciate it.” stated Brito. “It’s not easy, right? With so much back and forth, jumping ropes, but we always figure it out. We always figure out a solution and we move projects forward.”
B. Alpha Construction has completed thousands of jobs, including multi-family, industrial, new construction, and municipal buildings.
One notable project that CET and B Alpha Construction worked on together is the 4-phase insulation project for the Bombyx Center for Arts and Equity in Northampton, MA, which is on track to be completed this year. Once finished, Bombyx is projected to avoid approximately 3.1 million lifetime tons of CO₂ emissions, equivalent to the carbon sequestered annually by about 1,380 acres of forest.
“We look forward to the years ahead and we thank you.” Tajima added. “We’re honored for this award.”
“Thank you guys,” Gaft-Azcue said. “And here’s to so many more years of partnership.”
CET is honored to recognize B. Alpha Construction for their outstanding leadership, values-driven action, and unwavering dedication to climate solutions that start at the local level.
“We’re so pleased to recognize B. Alpha Construction for their unique combination of technical rigor and customer-centric approach to building weatherization,” said CET President & CEO, Ashley Muspratt. “they’re critical players in the tapestry of people and organizations working tirelessly for climate solutions in our communities.”
