Denver food matters restaurant challenge

In the Denver Department of Public Health’s Food Matters Restaurant Challenge, restaurants became part of the solution. From Fall 2025 through Spring 2026, 15 restaurants joined the Challenge to focus on food waste prevention, reduction, and donation strategies—all designed to help them give back to their communities while adding value to their bottom line.

Spotlight on Gather55

In a fine dining experience, Gather55 provides customers with the opportunity to pay what they can and cover the cost of others’ meals, pay a minimum of $3, or volunteer their time to cover the cost of their meal. With the help of CET, the restaurant also engages in waste diversion tactics, such as sorting and installing waste bin signage.
