The Goal

To reduce wasted food while supporting the local community and maintaining sustainable business practices. To reduce wasted food and support their community, Claire’s Corner Copia implemented a multi-faceted approach.

The solution

They partnered with Haven’s Harvest to donate unsold food, contributing nearly 8,000 pounds of nutritious meals to 28 local nonprofits. To further minimize waste, they offer discounted mystery surplus boxes at the end of each day, giving customers a chance to enjoy a variety of items while preventing food from going uneaten.

In collaboration with Yale Properties and Blue Earth Compost, they also compost food scraps—diverting over 183,000 pounds from landfills. Additionally, Claire’s prioritizes local, seasonal ingredients and designs their menu to make the most of every item, reducing spoilage and promoting sustainability throughout their operations.
