PAWTUCKET – A new local partnership is working with several Rhode Island communities to reduce the amount of still-edible food on restaurant shelves that winds up in the trash at the end of the night.

Food businesses and restaurants in Pawtucket and Central Falls, as well as those in Providence, Newport, and Middletown, are now eligible for assistance to help reduce food waste and cultivate a better local food ecosystem.

In collaboration with Foodrecovery.org and the Center for EcoTechnology (CET), the Rhode Island Food Policy Council (RIFPC) recently launched a new Food and Climate Action Partnership (FCAP), which was made possible by a three-year, $747,893 grant from the Rhode Island Foundation’s new Catalyst Grant program.
